Practice Nurses

Our senior practice nurses working from well – equipped treatment rooms. 

The services are provided by nurses as follows:-

  • Phlebotomy – blood test. 
  • Home Visits – if appropriate.
  • Health promotion / Health checks.
  • Cervical Smear, Contraceptive advice, Coil Fitting & Checks and Implanan Fitting, emergency contraception.
  • Chronic Disease Management such as Diabetes. Asthma, Hypertension, Cardiovascular Disease and COPD.
  • Child Immunisations.
  • Travel Immunisation Clinic. 
  • Smoking Cessations and Health Education Meetings.
  • Minor illness advice and management
  • Weight Management.
  • Spirometry and ECG.

Ante/Post Natal & Baby Clinic

We provide shared care for pregnant women with Antenatal Clinic.

Antenatal care monitors your health during pregnancy, as well as the health and development of your baby. It can help predict possible problems with your pregnancy or the birth, so action can be taken to avoid or treat them.

You can use the appointments to ask any questions you may have and to share any concerns. If you need advice between appointments, please call our main reception.

Urgent Care Services

We recently developed observation area/ assessment area in our practice for our patients who are not well to be sent home or waiting for ambulance. 

We provide high quality care to the patients with minor injury and illness that require urgent and immediate treatment. Our highly skilled nursing staff can treat the following:

Sprains, strains and cuts

Suspected fracture

Minor burns and scalds

Minor head injuries

Minor eye condition /infection

Insect and animal bites/stings

All other minor injuries.

Minor skin infection and rashes

Removal of foreign bodies from ear/nose

Ear & throat infection.

Chlamydia testing, and a variety of contraception methods

Stomach pains

We cannot treat the following:

  • Suspected Stroke/Heart Attack
  • Serious head injury
  • Severe bleeding
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Overdose
  • Emergency care following  an operation
  • These all services are currently available for Deane Clinic patients only

Phlebotomy Services

We provide in-house blood taking for our patients from Monday to Friday Morning and Evening and Saturday morning.

We do:

  • Home visits
  • Glucose tolerance test
  • All blood test

Family Planning Services

We provide variety of family planning services.  These include:

  • Emergency contraception – ‘ Morning after pill’
  • Emergency coil fitting
  • Coil and rod fitting
  • Mirena coil fitting for excess bleeding.
  • Chlamydia screening
  • HIV testing

Counselling

Anita Gordon Wray has worked at Deane Clinic for many years. She has worked in the nursing and social services industries for many years. During this time she studied at Wigan College and gained an Advanced Diploma in counselling.

Her work includes:

  • Behavioural Therapy
  • Contemporary Psychotherapy
  • Bereavement work
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Marital and relationship issues
  • Drug abuse
  • Smoking and Alcohol misuse.
